Ayrshire and Arran Acute Hospitals NHS Trust was established on 1 April 1999 and was formed by the amalgamation of the former South Ayrshire Hospitals NHS Trust and North Ayrshire & Arran Hospitals NHS Trust.
Services
The Trust provides a wide range of acute, rehabilitation and Care of the Elderly services to the people of Ayrshire and Arran, as well as visitors to the district. The Trust also works in partnership with Ayrshire & Arran Health Board, Ayrshire & Arran Primary Care Trust, Local Authorities and other voluntary and statutory bodies to improve the service provided to patients and their families.
The Trust's services are centred on the following sites:
* Ayr Hospital
* Crosshouse Hospital
* Ayrshire Central Hospital
* Biggart Hospital
* Heathfield Clinic
* War Memorial Hospital
Acute services are provided at Ayr, Crosshouse and Biggart Hospitals with Care of the Elderly services provided at Biggart Hospital. Maternity services are provided at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine.
In addition, the Trust provides Outreach Services at a number of Community sites throughout Ayrshire and on Arran, as well as occasional clinics for Orthopaedics in Northern Ireland.
The Trust's Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services include: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Speech Therapy, Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Medical Photography, Pharmacy, ECG, EEG, Audiology, Labs and Imaging Services.
The Trust also employs a wide range of support staff within Facilities; Estates; Admin and Clerical; Finance and Information Technology etc to further support and enhance the work of the healthcare professionals throughout the Trust. The Trust also has a dedicated Clinical Effectiveness Department, whose staff facilitate and support Audit, Research & Development and the implementation of SIGN Guidelines within the Trust.
