We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly, dedicated, and supportive team.

With a strong ethos of supervision and support, our dynamic team provides evidence-based advice, training, and interventions to support children and young people (CYP), their parents/carers and education staff.  We work with CYP aged 0-19 with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and feeding difficulties at universal, targeted and specialist levels.

  • This post is suitable for a newly qualified therapist, or someone who is in their last stages of their speech and language qualification.
  • This post is suitable for a skilled Band 5 Therapist who wishes to broaden their clinical experience.
  • We are happy to consider part-time and flexible working patterns.

The post holder will be responsible for the independent management of a clinical caseload of pre-school and school-aged children in community settings. This may include community clinics, pre-school settings, mainstream and special schools .

The client group is children who have a range of difficulties in understanding and/or using speech and language.  S/he will work independently with access to more senior colleagues as needed.

  1. To independently manage a caseload of pre- school and school age children who have speech, language and communication difficulties.
  2. To undertake a range of assessments, both standardised and non-standardised, taking account of medical, social and educational factors, to identify presenting speech, language and communication needs and make a differential diagnosis
  3. To plan, deliver and evaluate intervention programmes following professional guidelines and agreed service standards
  4. As part of that process, to be able to plan appropriate long term and short term goals working towards discharge
  5. To undertake administrative duties connected with the caseload including maintenance of case notes and provision of written reports, following service standards
  6. To mange own time and prioritise workload.
  7. To ensure that all work is carried out in close collaboration with all those involved in children’s care so that the approach to intervention and support is co-ordinated and comprehensive
  8. To identify when there is a need for a second opinion, referring to senior colleagues or SLT specialists as appropriate
  9. To make onward referral as appropriate
  10. To identify any variations to service delivery or demands and inform the Locality Lead and Clinical Lead of the likely impact on the service.
  11. The post holder may be required to attend meetings, supervision and / or deliver interventions outside of their usual area of work, if necessary in order to deliver to the countywide service specification
