Are you looking to begin or progress your career as a Band 5 Community Dietitian in a supportive department that emphasises clinical supervision and peer support, as well as learning and development?

An opportunity has arisen to join our forward thinking and dynamic Dietetic community team in Pembrokeshire to address Malnutrition as part of our Malnutrition business case. The service has received significant investment in addressing malnutrition and as a result, this post offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with the wider community teams to address malnutrition in the community setting as well  as supporting exciting and innovative project work such as self-screening for malnutrition, virtual clinics, digital platforms, nursing home projects, and new ways of working.

 

Main duties of the job

This community band 5 role working in Pembrokeshire will offer an exciting opportunity to develop leadership and team working skills as well as continuing to increase your dietetic knowledge. The successful candidate will have a varied caseload of patients who may present with a variety of conditions. Within this role, there is the opportunity to gain experience as well as the opportunity to develop skills in specialist areas such as Diabetes, Weight Management, Prescribing and Health Promotion.

You will support the delivery of outpatient clinics on site and work closely with our nutrition nurse teams and Dietetic Assistant Practitioners. You will develop the necessary skills and experience in home enteral tube feeding, community nutrition support and support the implementation of the health board’s new and innovative food-based treatment initiative across nursing homes and cottage hospital within Pembrokeshire alongside the medicine’s management service.

Training and education will be a central part of these role as well as supporting student training and the development and implementation of our Dietetic Assistant Practitioner roles.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Recognised degree in dietetics with state registration
  • HCPC Registration
  • Demonstrates good knowledge of and ability to apply evidence base in relation to dietetic practice and development of practice
  • Demonstrates consolidated clinical dietetic knowledge and skills in the field of adult dietetics
  • knowledge of current and emerging evidence base national and professional policy, guidance and best practice
  • Demonstrates effective organisational skills including prioritisation of workload, effective caseload management
  • Well established teaching and presentation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised IT qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical practice placements in a variety of general and specialist areas of inpatients and outpatients setting
Desirable criteria
  • Additional clinical or health care related experience
  • Work experience with public orientation
