Job overview

We are looking for chefs who are up for the challenge to join our busy kitchen at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. You’ll be part of a dedicated team preparing meals for our patients and people to the highest standard. 

We actively support the development of our team to ensure they learn and grow with us. We are able to offer support with your professional development, including funding qualifications in nutrition and dietetics, food hygiene (intermediate and enhanced) and also offer apprenticeships.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for your own food preparation section and controlling cooking and service operation and providing assistance to the other chefs. You will also support with remodelling of menus, optimising productivity and maintaining kitchen stock.

We can offer flexible shifts to ensure we cover our service from 6am to 7pm, 7 days a week.

When you start with us you will have a comprehensive 6-month probationary period to ensure you are properly supported as you learn your new job and what is expected; ensuring we identify any training and development needs and put objectives in place to support you in your role and career with us.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
