Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the new West and North Kent Community Rehabilitation Service as Clinical Lead Nurse.  

The Community Rehabilitation Service provides a flexible range of mental health interventions to help clients complex mental health needs to manage their mental health more effectively and remain in their own homes. The team works in close partnership with Social Care and housing providers to ensure each client has the necessary resources available to enable them to engage in their rehab journey. Across the Community Rehabilitation teams, the clinical team consists of Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Nurses, & VCSE Workers.

The ideal applicant will have at least 5 years post qualification experience, with some experience of working in a rehabilitation setting.

The post will cover West and North Kent, initially West Kent until North Kent Service is open at a later date. You will be based in Maidstone.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Be expected to support their team, department, Directorate and organisation to achieve the Trust’s Values in their day-to-day work.
  • Be responsible for providing clinical supervision to all Band 6 Nursing staff within the team, and lower grades where appropriate.
  • provide specialist mental health advice and education to staff within the team.
  • Facilitate clinical sessions offering short-term interventions based on psychological therapies and offer professional advice to client/patients and their carers, other professionals/partners.
  • Lead on the setting, monitoring and maintaining quality standards of care and will advise the Service Manager and Matron on issues which compromise standards of practice within their specific area of practice.
  • Be a Practice Assessor, Practice Supervisor, mentor, role model & coach adviser for student nurses, newly qualified & staff new to community working.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the nurses in their specific area of practice, working with the Head of Nursing & Community Matrons to provide advice on all nursing issues and to act as a resource person for other professionals within the team. The post holder will identify & facilitate nurses to update their professional knowledge and skills.
  • Hold responsibility for care within elements of a shared caseload of service users who are deemed complex. To act as a key link across the place-based system of mental health care.

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience and 3 years in Rehabilitation setting.
  • Clinical assessment of physical, psychological and social care.
  • Offering support to carers/families in relation to distressing circumstances.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Forensic cases
  • Previous experience of working in a community team.
  • Crisis Resolution

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Recovery Model.
