This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Registered nurse with proven clinical and management credibility within Children’s services to be appointed to a senior leadership role, to support and enable Children services in delivering high standards of quality, safe care and patient experience. Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced, motivated and passionate Children’s nurse with proven experience as a band 7? Do you want to work within a supportive senior Children’s nursing team? Do you want to ensure all children get a high quality and safe service?  Then this may be the right job for you to join our team in the Children’s services in East Kent Hospital. Along with a Quality Improvement Matron, a Governance Matron and a designated Practice development team an exciting opportunity has arisen to become the acute Child Health Matron on our children’s ward in Ashford. This post will work alongside the Matron in our Margate hospital to ensure a visible senior presence on each of our acute sites and strengthen the senior support to our dedicated team of children’s nurses, and skilled Health care assistants’ nurses.

Provide a visible, authoritative and effective presence for Children’s Nursing. Provide assistance, guidance, support and be an effective role model for staff. Work in partnership with the other Acute Child Health Matron

Experience

Essential criteria
  • First level registration RGN(Child) RSCN. Currently registered with a professional body. PALS/EPLS trained
  • Evidence of relevant recent study and continuing professional development. Willingness to continue with academic studying
Desirable criteria
  • Degree, or Masters or demonstration of equivalent substantial continuing professional development

Skills and expereince

Essential criteria
  • evidence of Financial management skills Clinical credibility Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • evidence of ability to work at a senior level representing the Trust to external stakeholders

Governance

Essential criteria
  • evidence of Able to assess priorities and make decisions, quick to grasp a point, able to “think on feet”, influence, persuade, give leadership and direction Recent experience at working within a complex Governance led service including leading RCA/SI’s
