Job overview

Specialist Paediatric Dietitian-Band 7

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to join our Dietetics service at Croydon Health Services? We are currently looking for a skilled and passionate Specialist Paediatric Dietitian to join our team.

As a Specialist Paediatric Dietitian at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, you’ll be joining our friendly team of 14 dietitians, 2 dietic assistants and admin support. You’ll be at the forefront of providing expert nutrition and dietetic services for children with specialist medical nutritional needs.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work closely with the acute and community paediatric services, building strong connections with various healthcare professionals.

At Croydon, we value our staff and their development is at the top of our agenda. Our department values each individual within the team by supporting wellbeing, personal development and supervision, creating a supportive team environment. We have a focus on encouraging continued professional development by providing internal and external opportunities for learning relevant to the specialism and need such as BDA paediatric masters module.

We provide a hybrid work setup: ensuring flexibility and adaptability for our team.  If you’re someone who likes to take initiative, embraces change and thrives when working autonomously, this could just be the role you’ve been looking for…

Main duties of the job

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with the GPs, community nurses, school nurses, acute and community consultants. Together, you will form a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support for our young patients.

A key aspect to your role will be conducting MDT clinics for children on home enteral feeding. These clinics primarily take place in outpatient settings, within schools and Croydon Hospital..

You will also be assigned to deliver paediatric general outpatient clinics. You may have the chance to train to see children with allergies, and neonates discharged from the neonatal unit which will provide you with valuable opportunities for continuous learning. You would have opportunities to shadow and have regular supervision.

Throughout your day, you will frequently interact with patients and their families, offering support, guidance, and tailored nutritional advice. You will be responsible for developing and implementing personalised nutrition plans, reviewing progress, and making necessary adjustments to optimise patient outcomes.

As a Paediatric Dietician you will also have the opportunity to undertake audits, drive service improvement projects, review and develop nutrition and dietetic policies as required. Moreover, as a specialist, we encourage your active involvement in our Trust’s Nutrition Task Force, shaping our Trusts approach to nutrition.

Working for our organisation

We're not just your average dietetics service - we're trailblazers. With the recent launch of our adult T3 weight management service, we've created a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical psychologists, dietitians, physiotherapists, and therapy practitioners, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with this dynamic team, expanding your expertise and contributing to ground breaking initiatives.

At CHS, we invest in the future of dietetics through our robust student training program. Our paediatric dietitians play a pivotal role in providing invaluable placement experiences, shaping the next generation of talented dietitians.
