Main duties of the job
This post is attached to the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, part of the Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. This post will be attractive to peri/post-CCT individuals (or international equivalent) who require additional specialist training prior to applying for a Consultant position.
Each doctor is expected to assist in the care of all patients in the Unit when required to do so. Duties include business, post-take and teaching ward rounds, OP clinics, Operating Theatre sessions, research, administrative activity (dictation of summaries, letters, coding etc.) and presentations (M + M, MDT meetings etc.)
The unit performs in the order of 150-200 major hepatobiliary and sarcoma resections annually, including minimally invasive, robotic and open surgery. The post will provide exposure to this specialist area of practice.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
