Job overview

A new exciting opportunity has arisen  within the Medicine Care Group at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust to work as a Coordinator supporting the Suspected Inflicted Head Injury Service (SIHIS) and wider safeguarding team as part of an transformative new pilot. 

You will liaise closely with the clinical teams and management teams to ensure MDTs are coordinated, well documented and ensure all actions are followed up. 

You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. You will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Main duties of the job

The role has a variety of duties, crucially:

  • Coordination of MDTs, ensuring plans are in place for patients and all relevant outcomes and actions are followed up, as well as supporting documentation completed
  • Liaising with other a wide range of clinical colleagues to facilitate patient care and assessment
  • Capturing a range of data accurately and in good time
  • Provide general comprehensive administrative support to clinical teams

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of a range of IT areas, formal training or experience to diploma level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Higher IT qualifications.
  • A level standard qualification
  • Knowledge/qualification in statistics.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NHS operational experience
  • Working knowledge of hospital systems (e.g. PAS)
  • Ability to use information to effectively support the improvement of performance and service delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing information, sharing and analysing data
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of clinical coding.

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of and experience of working with waiting list policies, outpatient and inpatient waiting time targets
  • Evidence of excellent organisational skills, prioritisation and communication skills
  • Experience of being able to work as part of a team, whilst being able to work independently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of current NHS climate and direction of travel
