We have a dedicated and skilful team of people caring in Sheffield, which you could become a part of.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. These are: working together for our service users, respect and kindness, everyone counts, commitment to quality, improving lives.

Job overview

If you are looking for a new challenge in a supportive, enthusiastic and caring environment in a lovely part of Sheffield; Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust Pharmacy are looking to recruit well motivated, forward-thinking professionals to join our friendly team.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. You will need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.

You will need to hold a recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NVQ level 3 or equivalent) and be a technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. We are recruiting Pharmacy Technicians ideally with hospital experience, but welcome applications from community technicians. We welcome newly qualified or students due to qualify.

Main duties of the job

Your role as an MMT will involve delivering a medicine optimisation service to provide high quality, effective pharmacy care to service users across the mental health inpatient and community settings and you will work closely with both the wider pharmacy team and the integrated MDT's  to develop new ways of working to improve medicine optimisation.

We are looking to appoint highly dynamic, committed, and self-motivated pharmacy technicians who can work in a fast-paced environment with our pharmacy team and work towards becoming an Accredited Medicine Management Technician and Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.

Working for our organisation

Become part of a vibrant team who are extremely passionate about staff engagement, culture, and improvement, where everyone has a voice and where service users and staff collaborate to have a direct impact on the things that matter most.

Our friendly department provides an environment that supports learning, team working and encourages individuals to develop in their role.

We are looking to recruit to a band 4 or 5 dependent on experience (please see job description for full details) and will indicate on interview the band relevant to the experience indicated.

The Pharmacy Department is a forward thinking and progressive department seeking to expand our current team as we develop a patient focused and modern hospital pharmacy service to the Trust while constantly looking at ways to further improve our service.

We understand the importance of great team working and have strong links with other disciplines within and around the trust. The patient is at the Centre of all that we do, and we aim to provide a pharmacy service that has medicine Optimisation as key.

We are looking to recruit full time (37.5) hours per week. We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly or part time.

SHSC has EPMA (electronic prescribing and medicines administrations) throughout the trust In-patient sites.
