The Food and Hygiene Quality Assurance Lead will report to the Senior Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager and be responsible for the research; design and delivery of the department’s training and quality assurance programmes, leading on delivery of work streams across Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring objectives are managed and delivered to National Standards.  

 

Ensure that local advice and support provided to FM departments include the development and delivery of bespoke programmes that are clearly aligned to the overarching Facilities training and development programme and the corporate Learning and Development agenda

 

Main duties of the job

Job Summary

·         The Food and Hygiene Quality Assurance Lead will build effective, positive and collaborative working relationships with clinical and non-clinical operational managers, professional leads and teams to embed and promote a learning culture to support the service and the Service Users experience. 

·         The Post Holder to support the Facilities Team in quality assurance assessments of the services and quality monitoring systems.

·         Support the wider Estates and Facilities team by actively contributing to the development, implementation, and on-going review of appropriate quality monitoring and audit processes including databases and other systems to ensure training is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

·         The Post Holder will support kitchen inspections, Food Safety and Quality Audits for  all Trust food entities and submit evidence based findings.

Qualifications Formal & Vocational

Essential criteria
  • • Post graduate certification or equivalent experience, knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment in learning and development or quality assurance field.
Desirable criteria
  • • BICSc Licence to Practice* or equivalent. • Quality Auditing Assessor qualification. • Train the trainer qualifications.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Understanding the CQC and its role in the NHS. • Experience of facilitating multi-disciplinary teams. • Knowledge of principles of auditing. • Knowledge and understanding of the principle of infection prevention and control. • Experience of conducting quality audits in line with KPI’s, creating and implementing improvement plans. • Experience of managing multiple complex programmes/projects. • Experience of continuous improvement culture. • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Waste Handling • Regulations, Pest Control, Infection Control. • Ability to undertake Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and identify/demonstrate return on investment (ROI) to organisation.
Desirable criteria
  • • Knowledge of NHS Standards of healthcare food and drink. • Knowledge of NHS National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness • Experience of working in a Mental Health environment or NHS Hospital. • Ability to design and deliver training programmes to all levels of staff and ensure robust evaluation/review. - Knowledge and experience of range of training and development methods and theories to deliver blended learning.
