Volunteer - Ward Support

Voluntary Role

Job overview

Join us as a Ward Volunteer, where your empathy and kindness can truly shine. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by engaging with patients on the wards. Your mission is to provide support and comfort to those who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed. By offering a listening ear and a comforting presence, you'll help create a more welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Please Note - If you have made an application on a different volunteer vacancy, this will be considered across all voluntary roles at the Trust. You will not need to make another application.

Main duties of the job

As a Ward Volunteer, you're not just fulfilling tasks; you're fostering a culture of warmth and camaraderie. Whether serving beverages or restocking shelves, you're an integral part of maintaining efficiency and organization behind the scenes. More than that, you're a vigilant guardian of patient confidentiality, ensuring trust and privacy are upheld without compromise. Your commitment to raising concerns promptly underscores the value you place on every aspect of patient care. Join us in this pivotal role where compassion merges seamlessly with purpose, making every moment count in the hospital journey.

Working for our organisation

We have 200 fantastic volunteers working hard to support the services that we deliver to our patients.  As a Trust, we help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Volunteering with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means our volunteers are pivotal and something really to be proud of.
