Volunteer - Pre-Operative Patient Support

Voluntary Role

Job overview

Join us in elevating the patient experience at our Orthopaedic Pre-op Clinic! As a check-in volunteer, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring a seamless flow of patients into our clinic, setting the stage for their journey towards successful surgeries. Pre-operative assessment is not just a routine check; it's a crucial step in evaluating each patient's health and readiness for their upcoming operation.

By joining our team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that every patient receives the care and attention they need, at the optimal time frame of three to four weeks before surgery. Come be a part of our mission to enhance patient care and satisfaction, one check-in at a time!

Please Note - If you have made an application on a different volunteer vacancy, this will be considered across all voluntary roles at the Trust. You will not need to make another application.

Main duties of the job

As a Pre-Op Patient Support Volunteer, you'll be at the forefront of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our clinic operations. Your warm demeanor will greet patients as they step through our doors, providing them with a sense of comfort and reassurance during their pre-operative journey.

With meticulous attention to detail, you'll ensure that each patient's appointment details are in order, guaranteeing a seamless experience from start to finish. Your dedication extends beyond greetings; you'll take pride in meticulously preparing patient packs, ensuring they have all the necessary information and resources for their procedure.

Effective communication skills will be your forte as you coordinate with clinic staff to address any transport issues, ensuring that patients arrive and depart safely and on time. Most importantly, you'll serve as a vigilant advocate for our patients, promptly escalating any concerns to the appropriate staff member and ensuring that each individual receives the support and care they deserve. Join us in making a difference.

Working for our organisation

We have 200 fantastic volunteers working hard to support the services that we deliver to our patients.  As a Trust, we help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Volunteering with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means our volunteers are pivotal and something really to be proud of.
