Job overview

The UHS Theatre Complex are offering an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our current senior team as Business Manager.

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to provide business and operational management, leadership and strategic direction to Theatre and Anaesthetics services (including Lymington) in order to optimise performance, efficiency and quality. 

The Theatre Complex is made up of 39 Operating Theatres with multiple specialities planned and unplanned including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT / Max Fax, Cardiac and Neuro.  The Team also cover services at Lymington New Forest Hospital.

Our theatres continually demonstrate ongoing excellence of patient care and are fundamentally about helping people to get well.  We are the regional trauma centre, and support 24 hour emergency patient pathways.

The postholder will be expected to travel to both Southampton General Hospital and Lymington New Forest Hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What you’ll do

•    Provide business and operational management, leadership and strategic direction to Theatre services in order to optimise performance, efficiency and quality. 
•    Work with others to ensure agreed theatre utilisation rates and service objectives are achieved in terms of efficient operational theatre flow.
•    Identify areas for service improvement and work with the team on projects to improve service delivery and data accuracy. 
•    Develop processes to analyse performance and interpret data for efficient service and focus on always improving. 
•    Work in partnership with all services to support effective flow management, ensuring service users receive care and treatment in the most appropriate environment to meet their needs. 
•    Ensuring achievement of national and local targets, through collaboration, consultation and management of relationships with senior clinicians and operational teams
