Job overview

The Integrated Contact Centre (ICC) functions make a vital contribution to the provision of first-class patient care, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. 

 

With the introduction of a new management structure within ICC an opportunity now exists for a Senior Operations Manager .

 

You will provide the efficient management of a new support structure for the ICC. You will oversee the efficient utilisation and management of all  staff resources within the department to meet the demands of the Service.  You will also be expected to liaise with all levels of the ICC management teams to deliver systems and processes that support the successful delivery of ICC functions for all patient contacts within NWAS whilst supporting the wider health systems across the North West.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for leading the ICC Operations Senior Managers, ensuring successful delivery of all service development projects and programs aligned to the NWAS Urgent and Emergency Care Strategy and the National 10 Year Plan. Monitoring project delivery and realisation of project benefits that enable improvements in performance and efficiency of systems, development, resource and planning, HSSS&F as well as business continuity and EPRR.

 

The post holder will support the Head of Service in creating, reviewing and monitoring the implementation of the annual business plan objectives and longer term service development change initiatives across the NWAS ICC  service line.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Educated to Master’s degree level in a relevant subject or can demonstrate equivalent experience

  • Has specific in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing the multi-agency urgent and emergency care environment gained through a mix of experience and formal training
  • Has specific in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing health and social care gained through a mix of experience and formal training
  • Has current broad knowledge of the national NHS context in respect of transforming the response to urgent and emergency patient care needs

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate extensive senior management experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Urgent and Emergency Care setting
  • In depth knowledge across a number of disciplines including performance management, information systems, staff management and financial management within the Emergency Service Sector
  • Experience of patient care delivery in the pre-hospital environment
  • Can demonstrate experience of leading staff employed in the provision of patient services
  • Can demonstrate successful financial management, rigorous financial monitoring and control, and evaluating competing budgetary priorities
  • Has business planning, objective setting and performance management experience and is able to formulate medium/long term and tactical plans (which contribute to strategic plans) involving uncertainty and which might impact on the Trust and geographical area outside the Trusts boundaries
