The trusts has five sites across London. The current vacancy is based on our acute and hyper acute stroke wards at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith. The hyperacute Stroke unit is the largest and one of the busiest in London.

You will be supporting people in their early stages of rehabilitation, supporting the team and individuals to make changes in their health. The work is varied and requires initiative, innovation, self-motivation and to be able to motivate others.

In providing this service, you will be expected to be professional, efficient, effective, and committed to your own development and that of a service, contributing every day to making the healthcare experience better.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of an Integrated Occupational and Physiotherapy service, meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a Therapy support worker OR Therapy Assistant OR Rehab Assistant, they will be responsible for providing high quality therapy management to patients within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • General Education to A level or equivalent and/or NVQ level 3 Promoting Independence/Care/AHP support worker or equivalent Health Apprenticeship qualification/Vocational training qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous significant experience as a therapy assistant or equivalent in a health care setting.
  • Previous experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working
  • Knowledge of the role of the therapists
  • Able to comprehend and work within the Trust’s policies of data protection, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of the patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of a variety of therapy approaches in different professions.
  • Experience of working in the National Health Service

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of communication aids / iPad apps to support therapy
