Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Team Leader in the Raedwald Day Surgery Unit. We are looking to recruit highly motivated nurse/ODPs who are passionate about the care of patients to join Raedwald Day Surgery unit.  The unit has 4 operating theatres, 24 adult cubicles, 7

children’s cubicles and post anaesthetic recovery area.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly team who are motivated in promoting the delivery of patient-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service to our patients.

In this post you will deliver excellent and individualised care to our patients, and you will be fully supported to achieve this through our comprehensive educational strategy.

Depending on your level of experience, you will develop your competence and confidence through a program of supervised practice, Post-Operative and Recovery specific competencies with an expectation to rotate through all areas of the day Surgery unit.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
  • Dip HE
  • Portfolio / CPD evidence
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration modules in day surgery/theatres, anaesthetic or post anaesthetic recovery
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Intermediate Life Support
  • Paediatric Life Support

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Expertise in post anaesthetic recovery.
  • Knowledge and understating or the intricacies of Day Surgery
  • Evidence of team building, leadership and first line management
  • Understands the Divisional / Corporate and National agenda.
  • Experience of leading a team, working with patients and carers to plan and implement individualised patient pathway
Desirable criteria
  • A recognised leadership/management qualification
  • Project management training
  • Experience in successful change management
  • Previous involvement in project teams

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NMC code of conduct and practice standards or HPC Standards of Proficiency
  • Demonstrates and implements clinically effective practice.
  • Understand current issues for clinical/day surgery practice.
  • Able to teach and assess specialist day surgery practitioner skills.
  • A recognised teaching/assessing mentoring qualification
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the current clinical practice to provide high quality patient focused care
