The Berkshire Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic band 6 mental health practitioner to join their innovative and dynamic team.  The EIP team is a trust wide service, with teams based at each locality.  We are a specialist service working with individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis or who are presenting with an at-risk mental state, between the ages of 18 to 65.  We operate a Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm service, although some flexibility is required.  This advert is for a role covering Wokingham locality, based at London House, Bracknell.   You will have a clear passion for supporting people and their family in their recovery.  You will work with our integrated team of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychological therapists, and STR workers to empower and support our clients to understand their experiences and return to college, university or employment. We work with our clients for up to 3 years and the majority do get transferred back to their GP, therefore it is a rewarding team to work with.

  • To act as care coordinator, in accordance with the Care Programme Approach (CPA) policy under the supervision of the Clinical Lead.  The role is focused on working collaboratively with the client and their family/friends on their recovery, developing a relapse management plan. 
  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of health and social needs together with the client and their family to implement a plan of care and provision of NICE recommended interventions.   
  • To work closely with other stakeholders to ensure the client has a comprehensive and holistic care plan to meet their well being needs. 
  • To monitor and assess the physical health of service users in line with Trust policy and national guidelines. 
  • Plan and provide treatment in collaboration with a multi disciplinary team and ensure clients are on the correct care pathway

The “must haves” for this role:

  • Diploma or degree level professional qualification, and registered for practice through NMC or HCPC
  • Understanding of psychosis and NICE recommended interventions for this client group
  • Experience or being a care coordinator.

  • Experience of assessment and report writing.

  • Thorough working knowledge of mental health problems and their management.
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment approaches
  • Knowledge of current mental health policy
  • Ability to carry out high quality assessments and treatment interventions to individuals and groups

  • Ability to maintain good quality records, and write reports
  • Ability to deal with emotionally demanding situations, to remain calm under pressure, and to be adaptable to demands of the role.
  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use electronic system
