Based at Chorley Health Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist/ CBT therapist to join Chorley adult community mental health team as they embark on the journey of transformation.  Community mental health services play a crucial role in delivering mental health care for adults and older adults with complex mental health needs as close to home as possible.

The NHS Long Term Plan and NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 – 2023/24 set out that the NHS will develop new and integrated models of primary and community mental health care.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post will be a Clinical Psychologist Band 7/CBT therapist Band 7 to be based within Chorley CMHT at Chorley Health Centre. It is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave of the current band 7 Clinical Psychologist. The Post holder will be joining Clinical Psychologists, a Psychological Therapist and other psychological professionals in training and development roles working across the Central and West Lancashire CMHTs.  This post is ideal for newly qualified Clinical Psychologists and experienced CBT therapists, with an emphasis placed on clinical supervision, support and CPD including the Trust’s Newly Qualified Support Group.

Our CMHTs have well established psychological therapists and value psychology contribution to supporting staff and service users.

Our team members enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

We are open to flexible and part time working and have a well established staff wellbeing support service.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS and current registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • OR Qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to post graduate diploma level, with Professional qualification in health or social care, e.g. RMN or Social Worker

Knowledge

  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.

Experience

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

Skills

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Keyboard skills sufficient to enter data/write reports
