University Hospital Southampton is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sonographer to join our friendly team as a Band 8 Lead Educational Sonographer. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the education and development of our ultrasound workforce.
The successful candidate will responsible for shaping and delivering high-quality training and fostering a supportive learning environment.
We are looking for someone with strong clinical expertise, a passion for teaching, excellent leadership and communication skills and a commitment to driving innovation and continuous improvement in practice.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

- Postgraduate Diploma in Ultrasound
- Appropriate Professional Registration e.g. HCPC, or NMC Registration
- Significant post qualification experience in an ultrasound department in at least 2 areas of ultrasound. including abdominal imaging.
- Provide evidence of leading in practice
- Equipment Super user within area of speciality
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Evidence of excellent Leadership skills, with the ability to make decisions and support staff.
- Detailed knowledge of imaging systems within area of imaging speciality
- Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance and knowledge of national and international guidance for ultrasound imaging.
- Demonstration of knowledge of other departments work practices with which radiology has a significant interface.
- To interpret scans and provide a comprehensive, independent, diagnostic report on the patient’s condition and make the appropriate diagnosis.
- Be able to interpret clinician’s requirements, to recognise the urgency of ultrasound requests, prioritise requests and determine the appropriate scanning technique, ensuring that scans are performed in accordance with best practice and research-based evidence
