Advanced Paediatric Dietitian (Neonates and Cardiology)
Band 7
Job overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
Main duties of the job
Due to new neonatal funding, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric dietitian to join our dynamic, forward thinking, friendly paediatric dietetic team (approximately 25 dietitians) at Southampton Children's Hospital as a band 7 dietitian in our level 3 neonatal unit and paediatric regional congenital cardiac service. You will be an integral member of the well respected multidisciplinary neonatal and paediatric cardiology teams, providing nutritional expertise, overseeing enteral and parenteral nutrition and working across specialisms to provide integrated care to infants and children from 0-18 years of age. You will work alongside another band 7 neonatal dietitian and a band 7 PICU/cardiology dietitian to provide dietetic expertise, lead service developments and supervise the band 6 rotational cardiology dietitian.
We are a large, diverse team and there are excellent opportunities for CPD and career development. We have access to the paediatric grand round education events and have strong links with Southampton University. Audit, service evaluation, QI and research projects are actively encouraged.
We offer protected CPD time and you will have regular one-to-one supervision.
We are a registered trainer for student dietetic placements and the paediatric team won the University of Winchester Placement Educator of the Year Award 2023.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
At UHS we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.
At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team.
