Leeds Gender Identity Service is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced clinician to work in our supportive and varied multidisciplinary team.
Leeds Gender Identity Service offers assessment and support to people aged 18 and above with Gender Incongruence from an out-patient setting. The service provides a supportive environment and brings together a wide range of experience into a highly specialised MDT which aims to address the needs of patients presenting with difficulties arising from gender dysphoria/incongruence. The team includes consultant clinical psychologists, mental and physical health nurses, speech and language therapists, a consultant psychiatrist, senior psychiatrists, consultant endocrinologists, GPs, gender outreach workers, doctoral level trainee clinical/counselling psychologists and a prescribing pharmacist.
Although the base for the post is Leeds, the service does currently offer a proportion of the appointments on-line. We welcome any queries that you may have about applying for this role.

The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team e.g. psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists, nurses and speech and language therapists to provide a quality and supportive service to those people experiencing gender incongruence. They will have an active role in service development and management, clinical and professional supervision. They will hold a caseload of service users, taking a role in assessment, both prior to diagnosis and whilst a service user is undergoing the care pathway. They will provide ongoing support via six monthly meetings, being the main contact for the service user, ensuring that their care is progressing, making onward referrals and recommendations for treatment as required.
We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.
