Senior Paediatric Audiologist

West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Paediatric Audiologist to join our expanding team in Hounslow as an autonomous practitioner in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of a diverse caseload. 

Your role will require you to carry out a range of comprehensive audiological assessments and provide habilitation to our paediatric population including those with complex needs.  

You will need to have experience in working in a paediatric setting and be registered with the Academy for Healthcare Science (ACHS). 

We have a number of sites across Hounslow that you will be expected to work from;

-    Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health 
-    Feltham Centre for Health 
-    Brentford Health Centre 
-    Chiswick Health Centre 

We have recently been assessed by NHE England and NWL ICB and they have provided full assurance of our paediatric audiology service.

Clinical responsibilities: 

•    Provision of a range of comprehensive audiological assessments and hearing aid provision to the paediatric population including children with complex needs.
•    Effective and supportive communication with parents and professionals. 
•    Support efficient service delivery
•    To organise and provide hearing assessments for children with special needs in schools. 
•    Assist in gathering departmental performance data, developing clinical pathways and efficient working of patient management systems such as Auditbase. 
•    To be responsible for efficient transition of patients from paediatric to adult services. 
•    To maintain up to date theoretical knowledge and therapeutic evidence-based practice regarding specialist area.
•    To provide detailed, high quality clinical reports, habilitation programmes (with individual management plans) and other types of complex written information for service users and associated professionals whilst adapting the contents to the communication styles and diversity of the recipients.
•    To overcome barriers to understanding or motivation, which may include English as a second language and/or learning or language disability or mental health difficulties in the parents/carers, for effective treatment to take place.

  • Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • On the voluntary register with ACHS

  • Deaf awareness training
  • CAC or CCC

Experience

  • 3 years of experience of working in an NHS audiology department
  • 1 year of experience as paediatric audiologist
  • Experience of aiding children using NHSP/BAA protocols
  • Experience of working with the deaf, their families and culture

  • Experience of behavioural, rehabilitation and electrophysiological assessment
  • Audiological experience of working with newborn hearing screening programme
  • Experience of working with a cochlear implant team
  • Electrophysiological assessment for young babies
  • Experience of peer reviews
