Clinical Research Nurse

• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.

Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse
Hours: Part time 22.5 hours
Grade: Band 6
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Clinical Research Nurse to join Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to work in research. The post holder will join a team of research nurses who are currently supporting the delivery of commercial and non-commercial National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) portfolio research studies across a wide range of specialties. The role will involve identifying, recruiting and supporting patients through the research process as well as providing support to study teams and clinicians carrying out research. Additionally the post-holder will actively promote research amongst clinicians, service users and the wider NHS.
Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LCFT) is a large health and wellbeing Trust employing over 7000 staff and serving a population of 1.5 million across Lancashire. The Trust provides inpatient and community specialist Mental Health services and forensic mental services to children, young people, adults and older adults. Additionally, the Trust provides a range of physical health care community services and children’s services including; diabetes, stroke, rheumatology, community physiotherapy, school nursing, health visiting, learning disability services, and district nursing.

The Trust delivers high quality Clinical Research Trials to older adults and other patient groups, working in partnership with the North West Coast Clinical Research Network and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust continues to develop and expand its capacity and capability in undertaking Clinical Research within its NIHR Lancashire Clinical Research Facility. As one of the Research nurses, you will enjoy working in a busy environment and support research activity across the Trust, particularly in the area of dementia. The successful applicant will work closely with the Clinical Research Nurse Manager, the wider research team, and Trust colleagues to support the research portfolio at the Trust and ensure all studies are undertaken to the highest standards within timelines and meeting recruitment targets.
The post is part time for 12 months and based within the Research and Development Department at Lantern Centre, Preston. The post holder will work as an ‘agile’ worker and therefore can be expected to work from different sites across the Trust a regular basis.
