Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

As a Clinical Pharmacist in this role, you’ll provide expert support to paediatric and neonatal patients, working closely with consultants, nurses, technical services, and families. Your rotation will keep things fresh and challenging while developing your expertise.

Your responsibilities will include:
•    Joining consultant-led ward rounds
•    Co-developing treatment guidelines with senior clinicians
•    Supporting neonatal and paediatric nutrition teams
•    Teaching students and healthcare professionals
•    Mentoring junior pharmacists
•    Involvement in homecare, audits, and research projects

Who We're Looking For

We’re seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented pharmacist with strong communication skills and a passion for paediatrics. Experience in children's pharmacy is a plus, but not essential—we’ll support you every step of the way with tailored training and development led by senior paediatric pharmacists.
This role is also available as a development post (Band 6 to Band 7), giving you a clear pathway to progress using the RPS framework.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • GPhC registration
  • Sound knowledge of a surgical or medical speciality acquired working within a suitable specialty
  • Meets Foundation framework/ GLF competencies
  • Audit and evaluative work
  • Sound understanding of healthcare priorities and political agendas
  • Experience of teaching and tutoring
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • MRPharmS or equivalent
  • Working towards RPS Advanced Core portfolio submission
  • Training in medicines information
  • Preparation of prescribing guidelines
