An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of AAA Screening Programme Manager.

The purpose of the programme is to enable the early detection of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in men aged 65 and over in order to save lives. The Programme commenced in 2013.

The administration office is based in Colchester General Office and clinic venues are located across North Essex and East Suffolk. 

You will oversee the work of the local administrators and screening staff, ensuring the smooth running of screening clinics and the collection and handling of clinical and screening data according to specified targets and national protocols.

You will be involved in a number of initiatives supporting the AAA screening programme, including quality assurance and promoting the benefits of the AAA screening. Actively participate in planning, preparing and presenting results for reports, publication and presentation for internal and external review.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Maintaining relationships with screening sites;
  • Organising staff rotas;
  • Arranging screening appointments for men in their 65th year and patients with AAA in the surveillance programme;
  • Clean up processes at the end of the year to identify men newly registered to GPs in the area who may have missed appointments;
  • Referring patients to vascular surgeons;
  • Extracting data from other notes and hospital systems;
  • Processing, tabulating, recording and storing data associated with screening, treatment and deaths, and producing reports;
  • Monitoring fail-safe systems;
  • Monitoring and reporting any serious adverse events and taking steps to ensure the safety of staff and patients;
  • Authorising expenditure up to specified limits and checking budget statements; ordering office and clinical consumables;
  • Overseeing archiving of data;
  • Raising awareness and promoting the benefits of the programme.
