Fast forward your paediatric nursing career at Imperial. With five world-renowned hospitals, we are full of opportunities for nurses looking for progression within their paediatric nursing career. Get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with leading paediatric teams at St Mary’s; the major acute hospital for North West London.
Join our dynamic and friendly nursing team on our 22 bedded inpatient unit: Great Western ward. You’ll utilise your experience caring for patients that range from neonates to adulthood. Great western ward looks after a wide range of patients being admitted from the emergency department as well as paediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care units at St Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea hospitals. You’ll be able to use your clinical skills to look after these acute admissions ranging from the complex needs patient to the acute trauma admission.
Our teams have excellent inter-professional working relationships with services for children including critical care, emergency department, community nursing teams and the ambulatory care unit.
Your skills will be further enhanced, nursing a diverse range of patients in need of paediatric medical and surgical services, including:
• High dependency care
• Haematology
• Acute trauma
• Respiratory
• Allergy/immunology
• Diabetes
• Epilepsy
• Infectious Diseases
• Mental Health crisis
Main duties of the job
• Providing high quality, effective and individualised nursing care to a variety of patients in a compassionate and caring way.
• Assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care plans without supervision.
• Helping to lead and monitor the performance of the nursing team.
• Deputising for the Senior Nurse as required.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RSCN/RN (child)
- Experience of supervision of junior staff, Mentorship in practice or equivalent
- Excellent level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- APLS
Experience

- Minimum of 12 months at pay band 5 within the relevant speciality.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Experience of change management – positive change agent
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
