Main duties of the job

The paediatric research team on Piam Brown Ward at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our research team. 

The role will provide regular contact with children, young people and their families in the hospital delivering research studies that make a real difference to future patient care. 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:- 

* Registered Paediatric Nurse 

You will have extensive clinical experience 

* You will demonstrate a strong interest in clinical research and an awareness of the policies and guidelines which inform our practice 
* Excellent interpersonal communication, organisation and time management skills 
* Ideally chemotherapy trained and oncology experience is desirable  
* Be able to lead, motivate and inspire teamwork to successfully deliver research to our patients 
* Demonstrate resilience and be adaptable to differing demands 
* We have normal core daytime working hours of Monday - Friday

Physical requirements of the post

Essential criteria
  • Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (if necessary with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act).
  • Ability to move and handle patients and equipment with reasonable adjustments.

Qualifications / training required

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
  • Educated to or working towards Degree level
  • Evidence of on-going professional / academic development.
  • Mentorship qualification (or evidence of meeting the outcomes of the NMC standards)
  • Clinical Skills certification relevant to role and specialty
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist qualification.
  • Degree in healthcare or biomedical science subject
  • Certification Leadership or management course

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration experience, including considerable senior band 5 experience in clinical research or a relevant clinical speciality
  • Knowledge and experience within a relevant / acute healthcare / NHS setting
  • Interest in Clinical Research.
  • Knowledge of the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Knowledge of International Conference on Harmonisation/Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP).
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as an NMC / HCPC sign-off mentor or clinical practice assessor.
  • Experience of leading the delivery of a clinical research project.

Aptitudes and skills required

Essential criteria
  • IT literate (proficient in Microsoft office applications)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with NHS IT systems (eCamis, Charts, EDMS, BadgerNET)
  • Experience with Research IT systems (EDGE, ODP)
