Job overview

The Yorkshire and Humber Mother and Baby Unit is an 8-bed regional inpatient unit providing care and treatment for pregnant women and post-natal women suffering from serious and/or complex mental health conditions which require inpatient treatment. As part of service expansion another 6 beds will be opened on the same site and adjacent the current unit.

This post is in relation to the additional 6 beds which will have a dedicated consultant (this post) and a dedicated multidisciplinary team which will meet the Royal college of Psychiatrists standards for an inpatient MBU. The post holder will work closely with the consultant looking after the other 8 beds on the MBU, the perinatal consultants and MDT working in the DUAT (duty and urgent assessment team ),the consultants working in the perinatal community team and other stakeholders in the wider Yorkshire and Humber area.

Main duties of the job

Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time (10 PAs) Consultant Psychiatrist in the Mother and Baby unit with responsibility for 6 beds.  Less than full time arrangements can be negotiated. 

The post holder will work with the MDT, colleagues and other agencies to deliver safe and effective care to patients. The post holder will work closely with the consultant looking after the other 8 beds in the MBU.
