Job overview

A full-time opportunity has become available to lead our CT Service in Hemel Hempstead.

This role will be based at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, with close collaboration with our neighbouring trusts and imaging network.

The successful candidate will also be expected to work at other sites when clinically required.

The role involves ensuring the efficient delivery of outpatient CT imaging services across multiple locations.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include:

  • To lead the operational duties of the CT service at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust, whilst also supporting the other site leads.
  • To be an effective member of the Radiology senior team, promoting the trust values through our workforce. 
  •  Provide a high standard service to patients and colleagues. 
  •  Complete CT examinations to a high standard. 
  • Supervision of junior staff and students.

Person specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • DCR(R) or BSc Radiography.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
Desirable criteria
  • PgC or PgD in a CT related programme.
  • Management qualification.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of CT techniques.
  • Aware of current trends relevant to the profession.
  • Health & Safety.
  • Clinical Governance.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems, e.g. CRIS, Clinicom, EPR, CERNER.
  • Understanding the Trust’s policy on equality/diversity and Health & Safety policies.
  • Knowledge of Radiology systems of work.
  • DMO1, 6-week wait targets.

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • CT experience within the NHS.
  • Dose optimisation techniques.
  • Training and mentorship within CT.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managerial and leadership position within an NHS Radiology department.
  • Complaint handling.
