Job overview

We are seeking for a Rotational Dietitian to join our team of 17 Dietitians at Watford General Hospital.

West Hertfordshire NHS Trust is a busy acute district general hospital, with most of the main caseload now centralised at the Watford Hospital site.

This role is well-suited to a newly qualified Dietitian looking to develop their knowledge, skills, and experience in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will work across a range of clinical areas, including Care of the Elderly, Diabetes, Surgery, General Medicine, Respiratory, Stroke, and Gastroenterology.

Main duties of the job

Each rotation is supported by a robust senior tier with a wealth of experience to help guide and support in both your individual learning needs but to also strive to ensure that the best standards of care are provided. A well-established supervision, probationary, and appraisal process is in place to help facilitate this.

We offer In-Service training opportunities, course funding both externally and through departmental links, and are actively involved in training student dietitians from the University of Hertfordshire as well as other healthcare professionals.

Person specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics.
  • Health & Care Professions Council (UK) Registered Dietitian.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of BDA.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of appropriate dietetic treatment of patients with medical & surgical conditions and the needs of the elderly.
  • Appreciation of CPD.
Desirable criteria
  • Appreciation of audit.

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Experience during training with inpatients and outpatients record keeping and documentation.
Desirable criteria
  • Appreciation of catering systems.
  • Data collection.
