An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accounting Assistant to join our Finance team at the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 


We are looking for a talented and ambitious student who is actively studying towards an Accountancy / Finance degree and is seeking an industrial placement role for circa 1 year to support their degree studies and to gain work experience. 


This role assists the Finance team in providing financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues, to enable budget managers to effectively and efficiently manage budgets and to support development of strategies to improve financial performance. 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a student actively studying towards an Accountancy and / or Finance degree, keen to gain work experience in an area relevant to their degree studies and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work to deadlines. The role requires effective team working abilities, working with a range of different stakeholders, along with the ability to learn from others.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

•    To assist the Deputy Finance Manager or Finance Manager and Senior Management Accountants / Management Accountants in the delivery of an outward facing, high quality, efficient and professional management accounting and business partnering service to the Division(s). 
•    To assist in providing accounting and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues. 
•    To assist with the provision of financial information that is timely, robust and accurate and to be able to explain, discuss, recommend and prioritise required actions to budget managers. 
•    To assist with the provision of high quality tools, information and data to enable budget managers to effectively and efficiently manage budgets and to support development of strategies to improve financial performance.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSEs grades A-C or equivalent (minimum), including English and Maths
  • Educated to at least A level standard (or equivalent)
  • Actively studying for an Accountancy and / or Finance degree qualification

Knowledge

  • Basic Accounting Knowledge gained through degree studies
