Renal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our  well established Renal CNS team  at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre .We are a regional Renal  Cancer centre and  accept oncology referrals from a large geographical area offering a variety of oncological treatments. We are seeking and enthusiastic, compassionate, and experienced oncology nurse to complement our growing CNS team. We are looking for a team-player who can be adaptable and responsive in the management of this vast patient group who can have acute clinical needs.  

The key purpose of the Renal Clinical Nurse Specialist is to work autonomously alongside our established CNS and Care co-ordinator to co-ordinate the delivery of a comprehensive and holistic Renal cancer service within the Trust. 

The CNS will provide support/key worker status to Renal cancer patients and their families/carers from diagnosis and throughout their pathway. With the support of the MDT, the post holder will endeavour to provide a patient focused service, offering holistic assessment, specialist support and information and provide psychological support as necessary. 

The successful post holder will be responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice and the provision of specialist advice within their field, implementing personalised care to enhance the patient experience, including a Nurse – led clinic assessing patients undergoing treatment.

Previous CNS experience in is desirable however, a developmental role will be considered for the right candidate.

  • First Degree
  • Recent post-registration qualification (s) or equivalent experience in Renal Care
  • Demonstrates professional updating of knowledge in past two years

  • Teaching qualification/teaching/ mentorship certificate
  • Counselling Qualification
  • Master’s degree (or working towards) in Advanced Nursing/Oncology
  • Management qualification

Knowledge

  • 2 years’ experience at Band 6 or above within the field of renal care
  • Team management and service development experience
  • Can demonstrate up to date clinical competence
  • Publication of research/audit
  • Clinical audit

  • Knowledge of current NHS and Professional issues
