This is a FIXED TERM Contract with the position commencing in the month of ASAP.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team of twelve congenital cardiologists in the highly rewarding specialty of congenital cardiology. The unit offers a supra-regional service for the management of adult congenital heart patients in the South of England and covers all relevant clinical subspecialties including electrophysiology, devices, interventional catheter based procedures, cardiac obstetric services and a full ACHD surgical program.
 
The post-holder will work with the existing Southampton and Oxford consultants to deliver the regional service. In addition to Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinics at University Hospital Southampton, you will also be expected to travel to regional district hospitals for outreach clinics.
 
You should possess Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent post graduate qualification.
Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates should provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty and attach the confirmation to the application.

You will be expected to work to deliver clinical excellence within the speciality of congenital heart disease.

Person specification

Qualifications, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • MECP or MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Experience in congenital cardiac MRI
Desirable criteria
  • CCT in Cardiology or Paediatric Cardiology or equivalent within 6 months of interview.
