Full-time 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH role will be considered for flexible/Part-time working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietitian to join our friendly, proactive & supportive paediatric dietetic team. The post will be working with our B7 Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Dietitian & B7 Learning Disabilities Dietitian to support patients/clients who are receiving enteral feeds at home & will be an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills.
The paediatric dietetic team consists of 6 Dietitians and a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner providing a service to a number of specialist areas including allergy, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, neonatal unit & home enteral feeding.
You will be joining our wider forward-thinking department of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers & admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services. We have excellent admin support & take students from University of Surrey & Oxford Brookes University.

Main duties of the job
As a Department and Trust, we will provide support and opportunities for clinical and leadership CPD. We are also committed to supporting external education and career development opportunities. We have dedicated Therapy Practice Education team to support staff development.
- To provide, as part of the paediatric team, dietetic services for children and young people in the community on home enteral feeds
- To work closely with adult learning disabilities dietitian to provide dietetic services for adults with learning disabilities on home enteral feeds
- The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner and act as a source of expertise in the area of home enteral feeding

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams in community settings and support to training, joint visits etc. In addition, they will work with the Prescribing Support Dietitian to review appropriate provision of feeds and ancillaries.
You should be enthusiastic, with great communication and time management skills and an ability to be flexible and have a strong commitment to teamwork.
Clinical:
- To develop and maintain a high standard of knowledge and practical experience in general dietetics, and to provide specialist expertise in the areas of home enteral feeding (paediatrics and adults with learning disabilities)
Professional:
- To identify problems where changes to practices and systems or additional resources are required to support caseload and to discuss these with line manager.
Educational:
- To be proactive in identifying and addressing the educational needs of patients and carers, including medical, nursing staff and other health care professionals.
Organisational:
- To ensure that your own practice meet the required professional standards of dietetic practice.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Registration as a dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council HCPC (UK)
- Documentary evidence of a range of continuous professional development (CPD) equivalent to a post graduate level experience
- Sound therapeutic and clinical knowledge
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of national guidelines relevant to clinical area
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of evidenced based clinical practice for a range of conditions.
Desirable criteria
- Attendance to BDA paediatric specialist module/s (MSc or CPD level)
- Membership of the British Dietetic Association
