Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy Management Team at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as a Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician.
This newly created Band 7 role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of pharmacy technician and assistant workforce service provision across the Trust. Professionally and operationally responsible for a team of staff, the successful candidate will provide leadership and support to this vital staff group across all LYPFT sites.
We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking individual with strong leadership abilities, excellent operational insight into hospital pharmacy services, and a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the pharmacy workforce.
This role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside expert knowledge of clinical ward services. Relevant experience and strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
You will play a key role in quality improvement initiatives, drive service development, and contribute to the implementation of cost-saving measures, including collaborative work with partners in Leeds and York.

We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. The successful candidate will influence and support workforce development initiatives at local, regional, and national levels. They will work closely with the Chief Pharmacy Technician and Business Operations Manager, providing expert advice on all professional matters relating to the pharmacy technician and assistant workforce, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
The department operates a 7-day service. Participation in weekend, and Bank Holiday rotas will also be required.

- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Management/ Leadership qualification – Edward Jenner, Mary Seacole programme or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of medicines optimisation.
Skills

- Medicines Management Program or equivalent evidence of competence including Medicines Reconciliation.Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications, electronic pharmacy systems, and patient record systems.
Experience

- Experience of managing a team or service using planning, prioritisation, and delegation skills. Experience of managing staff, working with organisational policies, including HR areas such as recruitment, career development, employee well-being, appraisals and performance management.
