This new part-time Pharmacist post offers the chance to work within the regionally and nationally renowned Cardiothoracic Services board in an outstanding Trust.
The board provides specialist treatment for all types of cardiac and respiratory related conditions in adults and children, including interventional and medical cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac critical care, transplant and ventricular assist devices (VADs) as well as specialised treatment for inherited cardiac conditions.
As the key Pharmacist involved in the newly established Mavacamten service, you will be ensuring safe implementation of this new drug, working alongside various members of the board to deliver a high quality service. Additionally you will work with the Pulmonary Hypertension service, linking in with pharmacy-related issues. This varied role will also include working on the adult cardiothoracic and cardiology wards. You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated team player, with excellent communication skills and a desire to share knowledge. Our well-established clinical pharmacy team provide a high quality service, promoting medication safety and optimising medicines use, as well as facilitating safe discharge.

- Clinical pharmacy provision to Mavacamten service.
- Liaison with Pulmonary Hypertension team regarding pharmacy issues.
- Provision of clinical pharmacy service to Cardiothoracic Services, including delivery of medication talks to patients in the community as part of the Cardiac Rehab Programme.
- Liaison with senior staff regarding safe and effective use of medicines.
- Training, supervision and support of junior staff.
- Potential for future role developments, including foundation trainee pharmacist tutor, diploma mentor etc.
- Potential to rotate through different areas of the board, including cardiothoracic critical care.
You will be a team-player with excellent prioritisation, influencing and negotiating skills. Some previous experience in cardiology and cardiothoracic is preferable, but not essential, and we welcome applications from both internal and external candidates. As a part-time, 22.5 hours per week Pharmacist, you will have some flexibility in deciding your hours, although there is an ongoing commitment of working regular weekends, as well as the need to participate in the pharmacy directorate’s extended hours and on call service.

QUALIFICATIONS

- UK-registered pharmacist (GPhC)

- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence
