Job overview

Are you looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a dietetic associate practitioner to support the delivery of dietetic treatment to young people, including those with eating disorders, at Red Kite View in Leeds. We are looking for individuals with a knowledge of and interest in nutrition, and relevant healthcare experience, to work as part of our multidisciplinary team.

Red Kite View works with children and young people from 13 years up to 17 years of age, who have difficulties with their mental health or wellbeing. These services are also known as children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

The service is part of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and is based in Armley, less than 3 miles from Leeds City Centre. It provides inpatient care and support to families and young people from across West Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

  • -    Provide dietetic support to staff and service users across the General Adolescent Unit and Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at Red Kite View
  • -         Deliver a range of interventions to young people with a range of complex health needs under the supervision of a Specialist Dietitian, individually and in groups
  • -         Support staff from across the multidisciplinary team including nursing and catering colleagues, to help them implement dietetic care plans
  • -         Take part in audit and research
  • -         Contribute to the education of the multidisciplinary team in nutritional topics
  • -         Contribute to the training of dietetic students

This will require the ability to communicate effectively with young people and their families/carers as week as a range of multidisciplinary colleagues. The postholder will need to be able to keep accurate records and manage their own tasks and time effectively. They will participate in clinical supervision with the registered dietitian and will have access to development opportunities as part of the trustwide dietetic team.
