We are a team of Occupational Therapists Physiotherapists and advanced clinical practitioners working closely with the multidisciplinary team to prevent further deterioration in patients’ physical functioning and wellbeing. We cover the areas of Chorley, Preston and South Ribble.

Your role will be to support the team including undertaking non-complex assessments and carrying out treatment plans under the direction of the therapists.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a flexible Technical Instructor/ Assistant Practitioner who is able to work across a range of settings and has experience working to support Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy interventions within rehabilitation, rapid assessment  and/or admission avoidance.

The role involves working with patients in their own homes and a variety of community settings . The service will operate 365 days a year, 8.00am - 8.00pm. 

We are looking for a Technical Instructor/ Assistant Practitioner with excellent communication skills and who has the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

You will have regular supervision and professional development opportunities. 

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure and the successful applicant will be required to pay for their DBS check.

  • Assistant Practitioner Qualification or equivalent
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of long term conditions
  • Knowledge of mental illness and disability
  • Knowledge of the cultures and religions of the area communities and to work across those cultures.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of rehabilitation in the community
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to organise own time and workload

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proven problem solving and clinical reasoning skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different people, including use of verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Physically capable of carrying out the duties required, including the manual handling of equipment or household items
