Job overview

We are looking for a Team Lead Radiographer to join our radiographic workforce at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.

The role will be a prominent leadership position within the department.

They will be line managing, mentoring and supporting a team of Radiographers with an empathetic, compassionate and highly caring attitude.

This this a full-time shift system position, leading a team of up to 15 Radiographers on the 24/7 shift system.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include:

  • Being an effective member the Radiology senior team.
  •  Providing leadership to Radiographic staff.
  •  Supporting Radiology services across all WHTH sites.
  • Mentoring junior staff and students.
  • Setting SMART objectives to support with training and competencies.
  • Completing and record keeping of QA testing.
  • Following IRMER17 regulations whilst undertaking radiology examinations to a high standard.
  • Participation on the additional shifts’ rota (Saturdays and evenings).

Candidates must be strong communicators who share our trust values.

This post is ideal for existing Band 6 Radiographers looking to broaden their radiographic and leadership experience within an established, successful, and popular 24/7 rota.

Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • Either DCR(R) or BSc Radiography.
  • Attendance at mandatory training sessions.
  • Evidence of up-to-date CPD.
  • HCPC registration.
Desirable criteria
  • PgD in radiographic disciplines.
  • Leadership certificates.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of adaptive techniques.
  • Aware of current trends relevant to the profession.
  • Conflict resolution and effective team building/management.
Desirable criteria
  • Public sector/NHS knowledge.
  • Safeguarding.
  • Complaint resolution and handling.
  • Business continuity processes.

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Post qualification experience across a range of modalities.
  • Wide range of experience in imaging modalities.
  • NHS experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Line management responsibilities.
  • Interview experience.
  • Appraisals.
