Job overview

Our department is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible full time resident doctor. This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain both clinical and surgical experience within a teaching hospital setting. The successful candidate will participate in the on call rota for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The role includes supervised and protected ultrasound (Transabdominal and Transvaginal) training sessions within the Gynaecology Day Assessment Unit (GDAU).

In addition, there will be regular clinical sessions in the antenatal clinic, gynaecology clinic, maternity day assessment unit as well as theatre session. This post also provides opportunities to engage in teaching, audit and quality improvement activities. Weekly department teaching sessions are held to support continued learning and professional development.   Department will provide essential training such as PROMPT/ CTG study day/ MED2.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work under both direct and indirect supervision of consultants. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.

The successful candidate should demonstrate compassion towards patients, along with strong time management and organisational skills.

Duties will include Labour/Gynaecology/Night on call. We have 120 hours LW consultant presence and operates with Gynaecology Consultant hot week. Other clinical areas include: Obstetrics- Triage/Antenatal ward/Maternity Day assessment unit/Antenatal clinic/ CS Gynaecology- CEPOD/ Gynaecology clinic/ Main theatre/ Day Surgery Unit/ GDAU Special interest clinics
