Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Clinical Psychologist/ senior Psychotherapist/ CBT Therapist.  We are looking for an individual who has experience of working alongside therapists from different modalities providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment to clients across a range of care settings including community, outpatient and inpatient settings  within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be expected to work with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect a full range of clinical severity and   supporting adaptations for our diverse population in Leeds.  

You will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider team, providing support, collecting outcome measures utilising leadership skills whilst continuing to develop yourself.   This will also include provision of supervision, teaching, supporting audits, providing space for reflection via clinical case discussion, having knowledge of mental health legislation in the relevant area, and taking a lead on specific areas of the team/ service development.  

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and treatment plans, deliver therapeutic interventions for individual with complex mental health needs for our diverse population of Leeds.  
You will also play a role in supervising, training other psychologist’ and mental health professionals, contributing to service development, and promoting psychologically-informed approaches within the team and across the wider service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for an individual to support the creative development of the team, with awareness of clinical governance issues and structures and someone who values ensuring that we are providing the highest standard of care for the population we serve.  Our expectation is for you to lead, by example, by drawing on a wide range of theoretical approaches from at least two specialised psychological approaches with excellent communications skills that are adaptable clinically to support clients, their families and carers, families and colleagues within our partnership organisations.  

Leeds community and wellbeing services are multi-disciplinary groups of professionals working together to provide specialist community-focused mental health services to working age adults. Psychological practitioners are a much valued and integral part of this work, providing specialist assessment and interventions, and also contributing to the clinical thinking and decision making of the teams.  Alongside direct clinical work, a key component of their role is to provide supervision, consultation, and training to the wider team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctoral level qualification in clinical psychology or counselling psychology (or equivalent prior to 1995) and registration as a practitioner psychologist with HCPC OR Doctorate level training in Forensic Psychology with HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist. OR At least Post-Graduate diploma qualification in Cognitive behavioural therapy with practitioner accreditation / Full accreditation audit status by the BABCP as a CBT therapist and with a prior core profession or through the Knowledge skills and attitude portfolio route. OR Masters Level qualification in Psychotherapy (Systemic, Psychoanalytic, integrative ) and accreditation with the UKCP as a Psychotherapist, or by the British Psychoanalytic council.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing a range of interventions across care settings, including for severe and enduring mental health issues.
  • Training and experience in the supervision of psychological professionals

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Skills and experience in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least 2 specialised psychological therapies used to treat working age adults. Leadership experience.
