We are pleased to offer this Associate Psychological Practitioner (APP) post within specialist eating disorder services. The post is based at Pendle House, Nelson, East Lancashire Eating Disorder Team. The team is part of the All Age Eating Disorder Service which covers Lancashire and South Cumbria and has close links with our other locality teams based in the Bay (Lancaster and South Cumbria), Fylde Coast, Central and West Lancashire providing multi-disciplinary specialist care for people who have an eating disorder. You will be joining a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals with a passion for working with people who have eating disorders including psychological therapists, systemic family therapist, specialist mental health nurses, specialist dietitian and medical professionals.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining the team at an exciting time of real development as the service works together to improve services for people who have an eating disorder. You will benefit from working with an enthusiastic, hardworking and supportive team who are committed to delivering high quality NICE compliant psychological therapies to people of all ages with an eating disorder. The post holder will receive regular supervision and professional support from either a psychologist or CBT therapist. The service is committed to training and development of staff and you would be supported to access training in eating disorder specific CBT models, if required.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver low intensity CBT interventions mainly focused on the eating disorder. Interventions will be offered in both 1:1 and group formats.
Applications will be welcome from suitably qualified Associate Psychological Practitioners, who have completed the Postgraduate Diploma Associate Psychological Practitioner (PGDip APP).
Please note: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS Clearance. As part of the pre-employment checks, successful candidates will be required to pay for their own DBS check at a cost of £55.50. Deductions will be taken from the first 3 months salary.

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
- A minimum of a second class honours degree or higher in psychology.
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Successful completion and pass on the Postgraduate Diploma Associate Psychological Practitioner (PGDip APP).
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates an understanding of lifespan psychology applied to health care.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with psychological/mental health difficulties or other disabilities.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work across a number of different settings.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people with who experience difficulties with mental health and/or physical health.
- Experience of delivering low intensity CBT interventions
- To have worked as part of a team in a clinical setting.
