Job overview
Are you looking to develop your hand therapy skills? We are looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic physiotherapist or occupational therapy to join our hand therapy team. Substantive and fixed term opportunities may be available.
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and we have two clinical academics within the therapy team supporting improvement and research projects. St-Mary's is home to the North West London’s Major Trauma Centre giving our team a unique experience treating complex major trauma patients and truly work in a multidisciplinary team.
Our mission is to provide world class healthcare for our patients, through excellence in research, education and training.
The post is static and based at Charring Cross and St-Mary's Hospital. The post holder will carry a varied caseload of patients referred by trauma and orthopaedic, plastics and rheumatology. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a largely outpatient caseload, but will also have responsibilities covering hand therapy inpatients on the wards.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapist.
- State registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio.
- Able to demonstrate specialist learning from previous physiotherapy rotations, formal post-graduate level learning and informal CPD (both general and specific to clinical fields of speciality).
- Demonstrate learning of personal effectiveness and first line leadership from experience and from both formal and informal CPD activity.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the CSP or RCOT
- Membership of the BAHT
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent substantial and sustained experience in relevant physiotherapy specialities and clinical settings
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team
- To have participated in service development projects.
- Experience of clinical education of staff, students or assistants
- Experience of supervision of students/ physiotherapy assistants, with development of basic supervision skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of the use of evidence based practice in speciality
- Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute hospital
- To have undertaken audit and/or research, either within area of physiotherapy speciality or as part of the MDT
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in the NHS as a qualified therapist
- Previous experience in hand therapy
- Previous experience working in major trauma
- Involvement with Clinical Governance issues and an understanding of their relation to patient care
Skills
Essential criteria
- Competent IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD relevant to role and specialist area.
- Well-developed abilities for communication and consensus building skills, to speak to groups.
- Previous experience in splinting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
