Band 5

Trosolwg o'r swydd

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

We are recruting to a band 5 role within the Paediatric Sleep Team. You will be a Physiologist with an interest in sleep and ventilation, looking to gain experience in an expanding area of paediatrics. You will share responsibility of our home sleep service during office hours (8am-5pm), and work two night shifts a month to optimise inpatients' ventilator support.

The Paediatric Sleep Team at Southampton Children's Hospital is one of a handful of comprehensive sleep centres in the UK, serving a large geographical area. The respiratory sleep service runs a near 24/7 service, facilitating inpatient and home studies on a weekly basis. We are a friendly and supportive team comprised of three sleep technicians who run our overnight studies, two respiratory and sleep technicians, four sleep physiologists, and Long Term Ventilation (LTV) nurse specialists with a dual role within the LTV and sleep team and a lead sleep physiologist.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We’re committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will help manage the inpatient and home sleep service in coordination with the Sleep & Respiratory Technicians and the Sleep Physiologists. You will organise and run clinics where families are trained to use home sleep study equipment and analyse and provide specialist interpretation of the sleep study results for the Respiratory clinicians.

On two scheduled (according to rota) nights per month you will also run ‘LTV titration’ sleep studies. On these nights you will admit patients, apply sleep study sensors, monitor physiologic signals, and adjust ventilator settings according to a prescription and standardised protocols.

Assist in the management of the waiting list for inpatient studies and coordinate the study dates and diary management for this group of patients.

Training on procedure, policies, equipment and software will be provided.
