Job overview
This is an exciting and influential role in the field of leadership and management skills facilitation. Reporting jointly to the Maguire Communication & Leadership Academy and the Organisational Development & Engagement Specialist in the OD team, this role focuses on developing leadership & management talent within The Christie. This post will run until September 2026 proof of concept role which will be reviewed and potentially extended. Leadership & management skills are crucial to developing effective organisations, a positive inclusive culture, and both patient and staff well-being. The Maguire Communication & leadership academy mission is to support health and social care staff in every role and at every stage of their career, developing compassionate, effective skills in communication, coaching, leadership and management.
Working across both the OD and Education teams, the Leadership and Management facilitator will design, deliver, commission, signposting and evaluate our leadership and management portfolio for the Trust. They will support the roll out of the leadership and management development frameworks, and the inclusive culture leadership initiatives in the Trust.
Additionally, as part of the Maguire Communication and leadership skills academy, the individual will offer highly specialised, expert knowledge and skills to support the development, facilitation, and evaluation of our full range of gold standard leadership, management and communication skills programmes
Main duties of the job
You should be experienced and competent in planning, designing and delivering training using a variety of facilitation and teaching approaches, both face to face, virtually, blended and in a e-format. We’re particularly looking for candidates who are innovative, push boundaries, and can create a learning culture that translates the trusts values and principles into the busy workplace. Additionally, you will be able to appraise external courses for impact and outcome and will have experience in guiding people to identify the right learning for themselves.
Suitable candidates will have substantial experience as a leadership and management educator, will demonstrate a passion for interactive, game changing facilitation and teaching approaches and enjoy supporting our people and patient care. They will understand and promote the concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and engagement in all activity undertaken
You will have the ability to work with engage, motivate, influence, and enthuse others, showing a passion for behaviour changing education and an empathy with the pressures of busy NHS professionals. You will be able to evidence that you can push boundaries, innovate, work autonomously, deliver to deadline under pressure, whilst maintaining professional boundaries, managing budgets, being sufficiently flexible to meet the needs of the workforce You will be a compassionate and supportive colleague to others in the team.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Take responsibility for the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of a range of training events and services to meet leadership and management training needs of The Trust and other Maguire client groups internally and externally.
2. Deliver training in a variety of settings, including face to face and on-line, using specialist facilitation and group development skills adapting learning to groups needs and requirements .
3. Deliver specialist knowledge to a range of colleagues which support the strategic development of high-quality leadership and management skills – informed by national policy, Trust cultural reviews and contemporary research in both management and leadership practice and educational delivery.
4. Provide expert support to workforce colleagues, to proactively identify development pathways, and specialist training needs and opportunities for all Christie staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Degree in relevant field
- Post graduate academic qualification degree or professional equivalent.in a relevant leadership & management, OD, CIPD, communication, or psychosocial area
- Post-graduate teaching qualification.

- Membership of CIPD or BPS
- OD qualification
- Coaching / mentoring qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in designing, facilitating and interactive teaching sessions courses across leadership and management l levels Facilitating using experiential teaching methods.
- Delivering innovative training to professional learners using in both classroom and virtual environments
- Working with single and multiprofessional groups
- Leading organisation wide training initiatives, tailoring programmes to identified need and working across multiple departments and different cultures
- Experience of being creative, challenging mindsets and habits, working to create a psychologically safe environment for staff to flourish
- Using coaching approaches to develop people
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leadership and management facilitation in health care
- Experience of delivering leadership and management frameworks
- Commissioning external groups to deliver educational programmes of work

- Proven ability to deliver training sessions using a range non-didactic experiential and interactive methods involving group interaction

- Can manage complex and challenging group dynamics in training situations. This can include highly emotive and distressing subjects and reactions.
