If you are looking for an exciting new challenge Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) which is a Specialist Mental Health and Community NHS Foundation Trust in the North West, is the place for you.

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Director of Facilities, Health, Safety and Security on a permanent basis.  

This senior level post will lead the Soft Facilities, Health, Safety and Security function working directly under the Director of Estates & Facilities with joint professional accountability to the Chief Nurse. They will be accountable for the governance and compliance for Cleaning and report to the IPC and E&F group prior to Trust Management Board. The role will support joint working across Estates and Facilities and Nursing and Quality, providing assurance and good governance in relation to cleanliness, Decontamination, Water Safety, Medical devices, Clinical Design Builds and Ventilation and the associated governance to the Board Assurance Framework. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have autonomy and be author for policies and related procedures and write and present Board level reports. They will be a member of the senior Estates and Facilities leadership team for the Trust, deputising for the Director of Estates and Facilities as required, and leading on Trust-wide strategic directives.

The post-holder will provide leadership across the integrated healthcare agenda, ensuring standards are upheld across the organisation. The role will manage and be supported by Heads of Service and has the autonomy to set their work programmes in relation to good governance and corporate strategy. 

The role will also manage all mobilisation of new contracts related to soft FM and performance manage the same and hold those individuals to account.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
  • NEBOSH National diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Chartered Membership of the Intuition of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
  • Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to lead, motivate a team and promote change

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of health and safety management, including security provision within a large and complex organisation
  • Ability to produce and deliver presentations in a variety of formats, including PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience of health and safety legislation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Reliable self-motivate, self-starter, who can work with minimum supervision
  • Experience of delivering and receiving challenging information that is often complex and highly specialised, and working with groups of staff at all levels to develop their understanding
