Job overview
We are looking for a full time Senior Staff Nurse to work on Buckley Ward at Woodview Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, suitably qualified, experienced and forward thinking individual to join the teams at Pendleview. The main duties of the role include:-
To provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment formulation planning, monitoring of care given to inpatient service users.
To provide leadership to oversee and ensure all contacts with service users are recorded promptly and accurately and are of a high standard.
Provision of information and participate as requested, to assist service development and Clinical Governance requirements e.g. surveys, audits etc.
You must have proven clinical skills along with excellent communication skills, good knowledge and understanding of adult mental health and the needs of individuals. You will also need to have a working knowledge of the care programme approach, NICE guidance and enhanced risk assessment and the ability to explore issues relating to the impact of health and social needs on mental health and well-being.
Main duties of the job
Inpatient wards / units are designed to meet the acute holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a recovery focussed environment. This working environment is conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing and health and safety policy. The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility demonstrating use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high quality care. There is an expectation that the post holder will utilise research audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.

- Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification
- On-going registration with the NMC.
- Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues with tact.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
- Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Demonstrate understanding of how research has influenced practice
- Can provide evidence of recent professional/personal development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Supervision and management of staff
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs
- Experienced in acting as a mentor/assessor of student staff
- Experience of CPA
