Main duties of the job
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a locum Consultant in Abdominal Radiology, based at Southampton General Hospital. Applicants must be fully accredited in Clinical Radiology with subspecialty training in Abdominal Imaging.
UHSFT serves 1.3 million people in Southampton and south Hampshire, and provides specialist services to a regional population of up to 3 million. It is a leading centre for teaching and research in partnership with the University of Southampton, the MRC, and the Wellcome Trust, and is one of 11 UK centres in the NHS 100,000 Genomes Project.
The Trust handles over 112,000 inpatient/day cases, 50,000 emergency admissions, 375,000 outpatient visits, and 110,000 ED attendances annually. It delivers GI cancer services locally and nationally, with all cases reviewed in MDTs with radiologist input.
This locum post covers maternity leave and includes inpatient and outpatient work, focusing on abdominal CT/US, CT colonography, and MRI. MDT participation is encouraged based on interest. There is no on-call requirement.
Southampton offers excellent amenities, access to the New Forest, and world-renowned sailing facilities.
Working for our organisation

UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
