Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work across CTT and develop your interest in liaison working. This is also an extremely exciting and interesting opportunity to spearhead and contribute towards the development of Hope Haven, Hope Haven – a mental health and wellbeing hub in the heart of Whitehaven and Copeland which is a community partnership initiative between CNTW and a number of partnership organisations.

 

This is a full time (10PA) post for an adult consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the West Adult community Treatment team located at Lilly Park Lane and the Psychiatry Liaison Team located at Cumberland Infirmary in Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is expected to:

           Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the CTT.

           Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care,

           Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams.

           Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve.

           To respect the rights and the dignity of patients.

           To consider the individual and cultural needs of patients and

           To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers’ Charter).

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT.
  • Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Approved Clinician Status.
Desirable criteria
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
  • Has undergone training in educational supervision.
  • Has undergone training in appraisal.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry.
  • Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation.
Desirable criteria
  • Interest in liaison psychiatry as demonstrated by experience, publications or presentations to learned societies.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings.
  • Experience of Clinical Audit.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in multiagency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies.
  • Experience in service management or development.
